McCrum Named New Chair of EMHS Board

Barry McCrum, owner and president of McCrum and Company and previous senior vice president for Government and Public Affairs at Time Warner Cable, has been elected as the next chair of the EMHS Board of Directors. The election was held during the board’s annual meeting June 14 at the EMHS Home Office in Brewer. Stephen Rich, of Glenburn, was elected vice-chair.

TAMC to collect electronics for recycling on September 20

Due to popular demand, TAMC will once again be offering the opportunity to bring used, broken and unwanted electronic devices for proper disposal, free of charge, this fall.  The electronics recycling collection day is planned for Wednesday, September 20, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at TAMC’s A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital campus on Academy Street in Presque Isle.

TAMC to hold Colors of Courage 5K on September 30th

Area residents have an opportunity to support their family members, friends and neighbors in their fight against cancer at a colorful event set for Saturday, September 30, in Presque Isle.  The Colors of Courage 5K is open to runners and walkers who want to support those impacted by cancer in The County and honor or remember loved ones.

Acute Rehab Reunion planned for Wednesday, September 20

The staff in TAMC’s Acute Rehabilitation unit work closely with their patients over a more extended period of time than most inpatients, making them seem more like family.  Just as a family may plan a reunion to bring relations together for a chance to reconnect and celebrate, the rehabilitation staff at TAMC is planning just such a reunion to celebrate National Rehabilitation Awareness Week.  The Acute Rehab Reunion is planned for Wednesday, September 20.

TAMC flu shot clinics announced for fall 2017

The Aroostook Medical Center (TAMC) officials are planning six upcoming free seasonal flu shot clinics in the region.  The schedule includes three traditional walk-in clinics, including one for pediatric patients, and three of its popular drive-up clinics.  Those 65 and older will be able to get a free high dose flu shot, and new this year is a Family Flu Shot clinic, where both children and adults can get their shots at the same time.

Staff from The Aroostook Medical Center are planning their annual free health fair for community members on Saturday, October 14.  The event, featuring a wide offering of screenings and information to help people stay healthy and well, takes place at the Aroostook Center Mall from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

MEDIA ADVISORY Crown Critical Care Transport Plane Incident at PI Airport

Just after 6:50 this evening, a fixed-wing aircraft that was carrying a patient as well as a paramedic and nurse from the Crown Critical Care Transport team crash landed at the south end of the Northern Maine Regional Airport in Presque Isle.  The plane is owned and operated by Fresh Air, LLC and is one of two contracted by The Aroostook Medical Center to transport patients in need of care in a tertiary care hospital, such as the ones in Bangor and Portland.

The Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive. The Top Hospital designation is awarded by The Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital watchdog organization.

New Mom welcomes first baby born at TAMC in 2018

The first baby of the New Year to be born at The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle was welcomed into the world on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 1:17 p.m. Weighing in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces and 21 inches long, the baby and his mom are both healthy and happy.
